When DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang asked the Sabah Natives to evaluate their position since Sabah merge to form Malaysia Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman was quick to denounce it as “trying to stir racial tension”.  His deputy Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan said it is just an opposition’s tactic s to confuse the people.

Lim also talked about betrayal by BN on this community. He claimed that under BN the Natives of Sabah especially the Kadazan, Dusun and Muruts are the biggest loser. Institute Development Studies Chairman Clarence Bongkos Malakun tried but failed miserably to prove otherwise. Until now, Malakun is unable to provide details about how many Kadazan, Dusun and Murut people are holding key positions in Sabah when challenged by Sabah DAP Chairman Dr. Hiew King Cheu.

A glaring example is when the BN government failed to promote Deputy Permanent Secretary Datuk Felix Madan as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Finance on the final retirement of Datuk Yusof Kassim. He was instead replaced by Datuk Pengiran Hassanel Datuk Pengiran Mohd Tahir. Qualified Native Kadazans will never become State Secretary under a UMNO-dominated BN government. It appears that the said community is not only marginalized but also not trusted by the UMNO-led BN government. What are the leaders in PBS, UPKO and PBRS doing about it?

Since PBS rejoined the BN family, the ordinary Native Kadazans are marginalized in all fields especially in the employment and business sectors. The situation becomes worse when the community is now further split by two other political parties, UPKO and PBRS. Of course, the Native Kadazan leaders in PBS, UPKO and PBRS are well taken care of. This is a reward for supporting and giving UMNO-dominated BN government the two-third majority in the State Legislative Assembly. One of the privileges of having a two-third majority is the ease in re-classification of forest reserve. A Class 1 protected forest can be re-classified into Class 2 forest reserve paving the way to log them and convert them into oil palm plantations.

The Natives of Sabah are indeed the Kingmakers in this coming 13^th general election as stated by Lim Kit Siang. A statement of this kind coming from a veteran political figure carries lots of weight. Lim Kit Siang has seen how the Natives of Sabah and Sarawak have been poorly treated and betrayed by the BN government. The call by Lim Kit Siang to the Natives of Sabah to evaluate their position under BN government since 1963 is timely.

林吉祥呼吁重新沙巴土著评估其立场

民主行动党顾问林吉祥表示自沙巴加入马来西亚以来，他呼吁沙巴土著要重新评估其立场，首席部长拿督慕沙阿曼即刻谴责林氏说他‘试图挑起种族敏感’的话题。 而他的副首席部长拿督约瑟百林说，这只是反对党试图混淆视听的策略。

林氏还提到国阵政府辜负沙巴土著族群。他声称在国阵的沙巴土著特别是嘉达山，杜顺和毛律(Muruts)族群是最大的输家。 沙巴发展研究主席克伦邦哥马拉昆(Clarence Bongkos Malakun)尝试表明情况并非如此，但这是毫无改变的事实。沙行动党州主席邱庆洲博士要求马拉昆提供到底有多少位嘉达山，杜顺和毛律人持有沙巴州许多重要的政府职位。但是迄今他还没法提供该资料。

一个明显的例子是，当拿督尤索夫卡星(Datuk Yusof Kassim)退休时，国阵政府并没有推荐副州秘书拿督费里马丹(Datuk Felix Madan) 为财政部的机要秘书，反而是由拿督哈萨纳(Datuk Pengiran Hassanel Datuk Pengiran Mohd Tahir)来担任。 可见嘉达山人在国阵执政的政府是永远无法担任重要职位。 看来这不仅是被排斥，而且是不被巫统为首的国阵政府所信任。 大家很想知道沙巴团结党，民统和人民团结党的领袖将会采取什么行动？

林吉祥很清楚的指出，沙巴州的土著将会在第13届大选创造奇迹。 以一个资深政治人物对未来的陈述，林氏更看到了沙巴和砂捞越州的土著群体一直受到国阵不公平的待遇，因此他呼吁沙巴土著重新评估他们自1963国阵政府执政后，他们的未来立场。
